Printed in back: "The apricot industry in California is enormous, and employs thousands of workers. The trees are hardy and practically take care of themselves. The fruit ripens in June or July, and after being halved and stoned, is spread out in shallow trays and treated to a preservative sulphur fume bath which protects it from insects and mould and prevents too great a shrinkage in the drying. After this process the trays are laid in the sun and the fruit allowed to thoroughly cure, when it is ready for packing."
