Dear Al:
In reply to yours of the 23 to Cliff, who 4% 221,
let me say that I hope you understand that the Department
of Justice people think Purcell, Endo's attorney, is wrong,
and he ought to re-open the case with the District Court
and get the case advanced so that it will be heard in the
Supreme Court with the other cases.
the Yepartment of Justice people are pretty certain
that only a writ case will be successful. `he important
point is that all these cases should get to the Supreme
Court together, and if the Endo case goes over it won't
nor any one like it.
Sincerely yours,
ROGER BALDWIN
